Here we have gathered some tips that can help you with your application, before and during the exchange program:

Students interested in international exchange programs have the following options:

General Call

Applying for General Call, it is possible to take part in an exchange or internship program at any international higher education institution or company, having an agreement with UFJ. This public call is open to applications throughout the year, and it is possible to apply for it at any time of the year, provided that deadlines are met. In this case, no financial support is granted.

Public call: Continuous Flow General call

Exchange programs

UFJ participates in some programs that guarantee some type of financial support for international exchanges. When the vacancies are made available by the programs, a public call is released that allows applications. The call is published at www.cai.jatai.ufg.br

Programs: Exchange Programs

How to apply:

● UFJ publishes several public calls annually in partnership with universities and groups. There is no pre-defined date, so get the habit of always look at the calls available at IO web pages. When calls are published, emails of disclosure are always forwarded;

● Public calls usually have short registration deadlines, so if you are interested in a public call, search the previous ones to get familiarized with them, as they are similar;

● In addition to UFJ Public calls, other exchange program opportunities, language courses, graduate and research programs are always published at the IO website. Stay tuned :)

● One of the requirements that all public calls ask for is students' global average above 6.0 and in many of them the classification is either by the global or relative average, so study;

● Every year we promote a TOEFL and Spanish test at no cost to UFJ students and employees, as many public calls request it. The Language Center also conducts proficiency tests.

● Try to study Spanish or English. There are many free online courses. UFJ's Language Center has an agreement that allows a great discount for UFJ students. Most UFJ's Public calls today are in Spanish.

● Read the call very well, since all information is explained in detail.

After being awarded:

● Look for the IO to know the next steps;

● Talk to a student who has already been in an exchange program for the same location;

● Research about the country, university, culture, climate;

● Don't wait to buy your ticket at the last minute and research a lot before buying it;

● Submit documents to receive your passport as soon as possible, in case of any eventuality;

● Do the same with the visa, as exchange programs last for 4 months, most countries require a student visa.

● Make an itinerary to get to your destination city (plane, train, bus). Do not trust your cell phone, because internet may not be available;

● Always have some cash in the local currency, preferably to live for at least a month even if NMyou are going to receive a grant from the university you applied for.

● Always bring change, as you may need it for a bus or subway.

During the trip:

● Always take care of your documents and keep an eye on your suitcase and backpack;

● Take some clothes in your handbag, if the bag gets lost, you will be safe until you receive it;

● Keep your passport in a safe place. Always take a picture or copy of the information page of your passport (the page with your photograph, individual subtleties and visa number) and store it safely, so you can get to it if your telephone is lost or taken;

● Depending on the airline you choose, as soon as you get on the plane, you'll feel like you're in another country. Flight attendants speak the language of the airline home country;

● Watch out for connections. Always look carefully on flight information displays for the correct gate so you don't get lost.

When returning from the exchange program:

● Try to help the next exchange students;

● Tell your experience, so that more people will be interested in taking part in it;

● Promote internationalization "at home", that is, teach some of what you have learned :)

And, let's travel!
